Patient Transporter Career Opportunity

Tampa Bay’s top-rated Non – Emergency Medical Transportation provider is looking for qualified Patient Transporter to join our rapidly growing team. Paratransit Operators are responsible for getting members to and from their medical appointments in a friendly, compassionate, and efficient manner utilizing our state-of-the-art fleet of NEMT vehicles. We provide everything necessary to work including vehicles, equipment, fuel, and uniforms. Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility is ensuring passenger safety during the transportation.
  • Transporting wheelchair, stretcher, and ambulatory clients and patients door to door.
  • Loading and unloading ambulatory clients and patients.
  • Strapping down wheelchairs, assisting passengers into their seats at pick up, and helping them out of the vehicle at drop off.
  • Coordinating instructions from the dispatch team and NEMT software to ensure optimal routing of trips.
  • Operating a hydraulic lift to safely load and unload of wheelchairs/stretchers.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all on board.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections at the beginning and end of their shift according to established procedures.
  • Maintain their vehicles and cleanliness.
  • Report needed repairs and service maintenance to supervisor.
  • Maintain full knowledge of the vehicle’s equipment and proper use at all times,
  • Complete documents and maintenance records clearly and accurately.
  • Participate in regular training and educational opportunities.
  • Must be able to lift 100 pounds.

Requirements:

  • Clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)
  • Valid State of Florida Driver’s License
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical, pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, and criminal background check
  • No suspensions, DUI, or more than 1 citation in the past 5 years
  • Must be customer service oriented
  • Experience in paratransit or healthcare preferred

Qualifications

  1. Must be a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  2. Must hold an active license in the state of Florida as a Registered Nurse.
  3. One, or more, years of experience, in community/home health agency setting, is preferred.
  4. Must have knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
  5. Must have a working knowledge of home healthcare, and the principles and techniques of professional nursing, and required documentation that pertains to it.
  6. Should be skillful in organization, and in the principles of time management, and have knowledge of management processes.
  7. Must be able to contribute to the quality of care being rendered, through constructive communication with nursing managers and staff.
  8. Must pass a criminal background check.
  9. Must have a current CPR certification. Online certification is not accepted.

Environment:

Contact with clients under a wide variety of circumstances. Care is provided in client’s living environment with varying situations, including private homes, independent or assisted living or in an institution such as a hospital or long-term care facility. May be required to respond to emergency situations. Travel required. Position includes tasks that have the potential for exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues and other potentially infectious material such as body fluids/tissues.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Corrected visual and hearing acuity required.
